Hello, a number of students have not got offers this year at our 6th form, from the top popular uni courses, students who were predicted range of A* to A, so expected offers. Coincidentally I was talking to admissions person at top London Uni who confirmed that increasing international students intake. I can only assume to create more Uni profit !!!

When exams were cancelled, schools submitted "Centre Assessed Grades" in 2020, and "Teacher Assessed Grades" in 2021. Not a stupid question at all!

Universities definitely over offered last year/had more students made their grade than expected and allowed/encouraged/paid students to defer. The course I teach on we never normally allow students to defer but due to the mess on results day we were desperate for students to defer, we’d have paid if necessary but thankfully had enough ask about it. It means for this upcoming year 10% of places were already taken before ucas opened. I’d imagine other courses are in a similar position. We’re also nervous of a similar situation and have under offered this year compared to most years.

Weren't Unis forced into over-offering at some point in last few yrs, had to do with govt accepting the teacher-predicted grades. Was that only a problem in 2020 ? And then people deferrred in 2020 to 21, so...
