Workload of an Access to Higher Education course

So I'm fed up of having naff all qualifications and being stuck in low responsibility roles that aren't really what I want. So I've decided to have a look at Access to Higher Education courses in the sector I want, apparently the amount of students who go on to degrees is very high which is encouraging. But as the course is part time, I'll be working two days a week as well as all the things that go hand in hand with having three kids and a house to run. DH is fully involved and pulls his weight, so I've got his support, but no other family local to help. I also have the option to pop the youngest into nursery a full day a week extra which I can dedicate to coursework. My job is in a relevant field so I can get experience too.

What I don't have is an idea of the workload. The degree I ideally want is quite competitive and while I've sourced good back ups, I need to get good results. How full on is the workload of these courses? I couldn't get the most sense out of the woman running it as she didn't have much to compare it with. But I don't want to set myself up to fail.

If you browse through the threads on the Mature Study and Retraining board you’ll find several discussions on Access to Higher Education courses and how they fit in with family life and jobs. Here:

Thank you so much! I had what I thought was a good look through the boards for just that topic and somehow totally missed it.
