Wondering if anyone has successfully completed the above with young children? I currently work full time, have a child that will be starting reception year the september that I would be potentially be attending Uni. I am willing to quit work to focus on studying and parenting. My OH is in a fairly decent job, I have checked and would get help with maintenance loan etc. Only thing is we were hoping to have another child next year (I guess I would be going into my second year of uni)...money would be a bit tighter but manageable. Has anyone managed to balance uni work with one child and a pregnancy or two small children?

Were Uni's understanding, how many times a week did you have to attend lectures and would they fit in between school times.

Any advice, tips would be great thanks :)

I did the FdA in childhood studies a few years ago. DS1 was 2 years old when I started it and I had DS2 during my second year. I also worked part time.
It was perfectly manageable. I was at uni one day a week which I loved and then had essays/assignments to do at home. The university were supportive wrt children/childcare, they let me postpone a module and do it the following year when DS was born, and they provided a room and a fridge so I could express milk. I really enjoyed it.

That sounds amazing. Thank you! Was this a full time course or part time?

I can’t remember if it was classed as full or part time. It was over four years, one day a week. I studied two modules at a time, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, so 6 hours lectures per week. It was aimed at people who were working.

If you have the time/money to devote to study is there any reason you can’t do a full degree?
