Hi
Looking For advice please,
I'm looking to change career and retrain as a Childcare practitioner and gain my qualification as quickly as possible as I am now 40.

I could apply early 2021 and start my local college next Sept and complete a 1 year HNC which we allow me to gain registration and work as a practitioner.
This feels like too long to wait to wait to get started.
I 've had a look at Open University courses and interested in Certificate of Higher education in Early Childhood 2 year course, It will cost over £2000 and it states on completion you are still not registered to work. Is this a waste of time will I just have to do then HNC anyway?
Any Help appreciated!!

Are you in England or Scotland?

The OU course is a general HNC equivalent to the first year of a degree. It isn't a professional qualification, in the same way as doing a degree in education does not qualify you to teach but you may go onto work in education.

I don't know what the title of the other qualification is but it may be a professional qualification. I'm guessing that if it includes registration there would be placements etc.

assuming the other course is the HNC in Childhood Practice then that is a course specific to those wanting to apply for registration.
