Hi everyone I’m new here, hopefully can get some decent advice. I’m 22 years old and have applied to my college and university to finish off my degree in Early childhood studies. I have completed my first year with the open university and have been told that I would get accepted as my entry requirements match their criteria thankfully.

I am currently on universal credit and claiming housing benefit, as I’m out of work due to no fault of my own (current situation.) I have read a lot of horror stories about benefits stopping etc if you return to further education, which is my dream as I would like to become a social worker eventually. I have no children so don’t claim any child benefit etc, I would just like some information about how I could financially manage on a full time course? Would my student loan be okay?

I’m new to this so I am quite confused! Thank you :)

I think you will be OK. Have a look at finance for independent students. If you have been supporting yourself for a few years before starting a course and don't live with your parents there are slightly different rules.
As well as your student loan, many universities have additional hardship funds for some students as well.
