Any experience of Uplearn?

DD is resitting two of her A'levels and plans to use e-learning platform UpLearn to help get her grades up. She's going to use it initially for Maths then if it works for her, upgrade for Physics. Does anyone have any experience of their kids using it? And if so, what were the results?

Interested to hear views too: son started in year 12 and interested in Maths and further Maths.

Hi @YanTanTethera01,

I know this won't be as good as some advice from another parent, but I've added some resources below where you can find out more :)

Trustpilot reviews:
uk.trustpilot.com/review/uplearn.co.uk

We have also been featured in The Times (the Bransons [Virgin] invested in us, as have many other high net worth individuals and funds in order to help us grow):

Over one hundred schools use us right now - some are listed here:

I hope this helps, and I wish your daughter all the best :)

Not quite the same but I'm using Uplearn to teach myself Maths A level as an adult learner. I've been using it since February and finding it really good. It's all broken down into segments with frequent questions and quizzes to check understanding. The only thing I'm not keen on is having to sketch graphs using a mouse - pen and paper is much easier but for an online course I can see why they have used this approach. I find it much easier to a absorb the information by listening to the video segments than by just studying from a book. Have just started the yr 12 trig module and am surprised at what I can still remember from 20 odd years ago!

Got this for my son last year. He found it was too intensive and time consuming for going over work that he had done in class. I found it brilliant. I think they do a free trial from memory so try that first.

He switched to SnapRevise which has really boosted his grades. He likes with SnapRevise you can dip in and out easier.

Maybe you remember it because you learned it in a book 20 years ago.
Will Uplearn stick with you the same way? Too early to tell?

My DD used UpLearn for Economics A level this year. A new economics teacher started at the beginning of yr13, she’d taught business BTech previously but never economics and never A levels. Has a degree in business rather than economics and tried to reassure us everything was fine as had a A level in economics. Maybe for some students she was fine but my DD wasn’t finding it a walk in the park during yr12, then found it incredibly confusing with the new teacher in yr13. At Christmas she dropped all economics classroom lessons and studied Economics with UpLearn in the library and also at home. She continued her other two A levels at school as normal. She got an A*. UpLearn guarantee an A if you complete 90% of the work. She completed around 75% - there’s a lot of work but she did start quite late. She LOVED UpLearn, finally understood and generally suited her well.

My son's sixth form has just signed up to Uplearn for all their students (they say they've got a licence for each one), and parents wondering about such packages might want to consider finding out what's available through school/college first.

@chrisfromuplearn - I'm more interested in how helpful it is for students than how much money the company is making for investors - and I'm not really a Richard Branson fan - in fact, that would put me off (but DS1's school/sixth form has already made the decision so hopefully it will be useful for him or students who make use of it).

And OP, it sounds a good idea to try it out with one subject to see how this style of learning works. Is your DD preparing independently for the resits or is she doing them through a college? Good luck.
