This course used to be known as PTTLS.

I have an interview at college tomorrow for this course which is one evening a week. I really fancy being a training officer for a company or a FE college tutor.

Has anybody else done this?

What are job opportunities like in your area for FE tutors/ work-based trainers in your subject area?
The FE sector tends to have much lower funding than schools and sometimes roles can be hard to come by.
Do they expect you to have work-experience either paid or voluntary as part of the course? If this is the case do you have to organise it yourself or do they do this for you?

There’s quite a lot going in my area, mostly part time but that’s fine for me.

This course doesn’t need work experience, the level 4 one does.

That sounds positive OP.
The course I did predates the PTTLS and required work experience at all levels so that's why I asked.

For the certificate and diploma courses, do you know how you get the teaching experience required for the course? Most of the jobs I see advertised already require you to have the certificate or diploma or QTLS.

The l3e&t is a great intro to teaching and facilitating.

You will have 3 units to complete, most common choice of options is - roles and responsibilities around teaching, using techniques in teaching and then assessment in teaching.

Most of the assessment is coursework plus a small teaching session -this will be up to an hour (you have to be involved in60 Mins of teaching but that includes assistant or observation).

Level 3 is a'level equivalents so decent level but not masses of reading and referencing etc. Some really useful text books around as well.

It's a basic teaching qual - great for community work but not for working as a teacher/lecturer where you'd be looking at the level 4 and 5

(I write the resources for this qual for an exam board so know it well!)

The l4 and l5 need regular teaching hours - some do it a voluntary but most we see are already teaching - lots of college jobs ask for you to achieve the qual within a time period

This course is 'Teaching 101' Grin. Great fun and really interesting to meet the other participants. The assignments are not hard, but you need to keep up with them.

It will lead you straight into FE college lecturing, although if you don't have another teaching qualification they will probably ask you to take the L4 once you start work.

However, I doubt if it will help you get a job as a training offer in a company environment unless you work in that environment already. I applied for a few similar roles when I was looking for a new job earlier this year and didn't get anywhere despite a lot of training experience - I think they look for CIPD.
