How do I study? Don't even know where to start. Please help!

I'm enrolled in a beauty course and there is so much to learn, especially with the skin and human body systems that I'm a bit overwhelmed with info.

I don't know how to study. I have a lot of course material but I don't know what to do with it so that I can remember/understand/explain the content. If you asked me to explain a topic in my course I would only be able to answer really vaguely and only with basic information.

Does anyone have any advice or study resources online they could share with me? A lot of what I've scrolled through is geared towards exams and people who are in school/university.

I really need something that explains how to study 'from scratch'.

I've got some excellent books about my subject and don't want to waste the info I've read. Also, I'm aiming to study nursing later on so I've really got to sort this deficiency out!

I find that writing out information helps me. If I'm just reading it I seem to forget it instantly. So I draw out spider diagrams and it seems to flow. Or writing out key points on those note card things using coloured pens and highlighters.
I'm studying a degree at the minute and I find that's what helps me, not sure if it's any use to you.

Same as ^
Eavery day or two, make time to sit and 'write up' what you have learned that day, or over the previous couple of days.

How you prefer to organise it will depend on what you find suits you.
I like to 'categorise' stuff..... sso in your case I'd use some dividers to create a file and have a section for 'nails' or 'eyebrows' or 'skincare' or whatever, and I'd make an index, so If I needed something on make up, it might cross reference with skin {forgive me if not the content of your course, I'm having to guess that bit}.
Others like to go through what they've written and highlight key words or tips.
Others like more of a diagram type effect.

It is really important to write up your notes though. If you can find anyone willing to listen, trying to explain what you've learned to someone else, is a really good measure of if you have understood it. If you are just a "passive listener" it is easy to think 'I've got that' but if you tell someone else and they ask 'What about this though' and you can't answer it, then you will be able to ask the tutor in the next lesson.
Good luck.
