Fees for Art Foundation course after A levels

I have a question about the fees for taking a one year post-A level art foundation course at a university.

No student finance is available because it's not a degree level course.

The university course info states that the course is free 'if the student is under 19 on 31 August in the year of entry'.

So does this mean someone who has just taken A levels and is still 18 when the course starts in September will not pay fees?

Or does the 'year of entry' refer to the academic year? By the end of the academic year when the course ends, the student will already be 19.

Sorry... feeling really thick about this... Blush

And you still get child benefit as it's a level 3 qualification 😽

No relatives & lots of friends' children have. The courses finish quite early so you can still go off travelling for the summer (makes a very good transition year rather than actual gap). I know people who have done foundation courses & then gone on to do architecture, theatre design, graphic design, English & interior design. Most have continued to live at home (but we are London) however some have gone to Falmouth iirc.

Thanks BigGreenOlives and sadusername2.

Love both your names by the way. Wink

It refers to academic year, so as long as they are under 19 at the beginning of the course year ie. September 1st, it will be free. Dn did this, having changed her mind about uni.
