Is it possible to a full A level in one year?

Anywhere other than an expensive private crammer?

My dd did badly in ASs, wants to give up the one she did worst in, retake the other two along with her A2s, and then do a new subject (A2 & AS) in one year afterwards and apply to university that year. Is that possible? I can only see tutor colleges that might offer the option - or potentially an online course which might be ok as she'll have to get a job in the gap year anyway.

Are there any other options? Any suggestions welcomed.

That would be a good option.

Also - how less likely would universities be to look kindly on a student having taken As over three years?

It depends what went wrong this year tbh. Resitting 2 from this year, learning the A2 syllabus for those two AND doing a completely new subject in a year is a big ask. Can she deliver? Or would a change in course to BTEC be better? A levels aren't for everyone.

I did a year long evening class and worked full time (and I had a weekend and evening job!) it was easy enough. That was 15 years ago though, before AS levels

Titchy - the plan would be two AS paper retakes and two A2s this year (yr13) and then work a gap year while trying to do one new subject, AS and A2, the following year (yr14).
I'm just not sure how she'd go about that - evening classes seem to be for 19+.

She'd have to pay fees if she did it that way then.

you can do year 14 in some schools to finish.

My DD took the International Baccalaureate and didn't get the points she needed for her uni offer. She pursuaded our local college to let her do 3 A levels in a year. It was hard work but she got an A* A and B. She got several good university offers and graduated this year with a First.
