Studying from home - how much housekeeping?

My son decided university wasn't the best choice for him. Instead he is about to start an OU degree, living at home and working part-time. The thing is, I feel he should now pay some housekeeping money so that he begins to learn to be financially independent, but I don't want to charge him too much!
He'll be earring £100 a week. What would you suggest I charge him?

My DD not at uni but on £100 I charged her £15 (earnings have gone up but still charging £15!!!)

He needs to appreciate in mind that it will be a a lot cheaper living at home than at unit

I was always charged a third of any income. And was told if I thought that was too much we could calculate how much it actually cost.

I agree that it is the principle of charging that is important. Otherwise they never learn to budget properly. I'm hoping with Dd when she's older that if I charge her housekeeping, I can bank most of it and give it back to her as a lump sum, to help with a deposit or something.
