Changing agencies

I would be grateful for some advice from you knowledgeable ladies and gents please.

Im a very newly registered foster carer.
I found the process of becoming registered to be hugely invasive. I understand the reasons behind it, however some stuff, for example, the depths they looked into my financial situation, I felt was far too invasive.

I am potentially looking to change the agency I work with.
Does anyone know if I will have to go through this whole process again, or can most of it be 'fast tracked'?

So as not to drip feed, I'm looking to change agency due to stating right from the very beginning of my contact with this agency that I was only interested in a particular area/age/type/duration of foster care, and them now encouraging me to work in an area/age/type that Im not wanting to.

I manage an IFA and we always start Form Fs from scratch, even if a carer has only recently gone through the process elsewhere.

The reason is that we would draw our own analysis and recommendations from undertaking the assessment, which we wouldn’t really be able to do properly by reading someone else’s work.

Do you feel able to challenge your existing agency and tell them to stop trying to sway you? They really need to respect your wishes.

Thank you AnonymousSSW

Yes I do feel comfortable speaking to them, although I don't think it will make any difference as the need for one type of care in my area far exceeds the care Im wanting to provide.

Im going to take a long holiday and have a think.

Make enquiries with IFA's / LAs, you can transfer and shouldn't need to start from scratch but they'll do their own mini assessment for their own records.
Or just be patient until the right match comes along

I’m a IFA FC and they can’t make you accept a child you don’t feel comfortable to take. They will provide matches and you decide based on the referrals not what they want from you. You need to be mindful that your specific options might not be there and have to wait longer than if you had more relaxed options. You may find all IFA’s are like that. Mine is. Stay strong to your choices. No judgement here.
