Providing clothing, footwear etc

I know someone that is being looked after by a foster carer. They need a new pair of shoes and I am not sure if they have a coat. How does this work with the foster carer providing replacement clothes and footwear as needed?

The foster carer should be ensuring that the child has the clothing they need. They should be in receipt of an allowance for them.

Having said that, I have a newly placed child who arrived as an emergency. I had 3 hours notice, rushed out to buy basics, pj, underwear socks, one change of clothes and some school uniform. They arrived with one pair of school shoes, a pair of wellies and a handful of too small clothes. They were only supposed to be here for a weekend - we are now in the second week and will probably be staying for a while. So Im having to kit him out with everything. Currently this is all out of my own money, I must have spent over £300 already and havent received a penny.

Thank you for confirming the carer should replace the shoes.

It does depend on the age of the child, as some young people will begin to receive their clothing allowance and be supported to manage this themselves gradually, to support a successful move to indepenence

Don't want to give too much information but they may be at the age of getting an allowance. Not sure they are though.

Are you part of their review process, or have concerns that they aren't getting the right care? You can raise your concerns to their social worker who will have all the information and be able to look I to it. Or support the young person to do so themselves if appropriate

I'm not involved in their care or review of care. I'll signpost them to seek out information about anything they may be entitled to.

They should also have an IRO and potentially an independent visitor who can support too

No sure what either of them are but will ask the child if they know and direct them.
