SGO assessment being filed and just found out 1 of the applicants has cancer

SGO assessment is due to be filed to court to care for 2 young family members. All medical assessments have been done but 1 party of the SGO assessment has been diagnosed with cancer.

Do they need to tell their social worker because technically was fit and healthy when medical was done? Will it alter the outcome as there are 2 positive SGO assessments going in

Difficult one, are you one of the applicants?
With my professional hat on I'd say tell them, as social services need to be assured the couple are able to care for the children long term, and may be able to offer appropriate support.
But in real life it might just mean more delays, stress and the children staying longer in the care system, which is rarely a good outcome.

It would depend on a few factors for me:
-are the children already living with the couple
-how will the couple navigate appointments and treatment if the children are moving in?
-if the worst happens, will the remaining partner be willing and able to manage alone?
-are there alternative options of family members for the children to live with, or would sgo breakdown mean growing up in the care system?

They are already living with the couple. Them, and us as a couple, both have positive SGO assessments. It goes to court next month and SW said they probably would not move them again, but then this has come to light. The children are settled with the other couple, I just wanted to know if this would then prompt them to move the children. I just like to be prepared for every eventuality
