Hello my wife and I live with our mother on law she fosters 3 children. We live here to help support. One of the Foster children has very
Severe needs due to a chromosome deletion. He is now 11 years old and has become very violent he is also non verbal and double incontinent . He has started Spitting, biting ,pulling hair throwing objects.Just before the school holidays his school has said they cannot cater for his needs as he is too violent. . So currently he has no school to go too.
Our mother on law has fostered him for 7 years. Everything she asked for respite social services say they cannot find a suitable Foster carer to have him. There are also no local care homes that will have him as his needs are to complex.
The other Foster children are missing out on days out because it is impossible to go out because of his violence. My mother in law and my wife and kids are at breaking point. When we ask fir help social services just say we can't find anywhere suitable for. He is classed as unfosterble.
Need some advice to where to go from here ,my mother in law is at breaking point ,they the social workers just don't seem to want to help. Is there anywhere we can say 'look we need a break'.

is she a member of the foster carers union, the nupfc ? sounds like she needs to join.
This is a classic situation whereby the LA are not going to do anything unless you threaten to pull the plug. Putting that child into specialist long term residential accomodation will be eye wateringly expensive and you are saving them a fortune. First stop is the childs IRO. Call an immediate meeting, explain the situation and give them a deadline or you will have to serve notice on the child. You are just being exploited as it stands and they will continue to exploit foster carers until people stand up for themselves (and their children who they look after).
