Urgent pushchair advice please

Hi - I would be super grateful for some advice.

Just starting out and need pushchair which works for several children (Newborn - large toddler) - am thinking Cosatto Woosh XL?

BUT ideally I do need a double one, which could fit two toddlers, but can also get on the bus. Really what I would love to find is one that can be converted into a double, i.e. older kid can walk or ride as needed. Have thought of buggy board but think may be a bit young for that, plus won't work on various terrains etc I assume.

Any thoughts? Oh and to make it truly impossible as you may know, the budget is £300.

Mountain buggy duet is a double that people seem to like as it's narrow. Most of the mountain buggy range fit from newborn to toddler. Many sizes to pick from. Out and about is another good brand with doubles and singles. City jogger is another one too.

Thank you! Do you know of any that are singles but can be converted to doubles? Does that even exist? I have found ones which have newborn attachments but wouldn't work for two toddlers.

Second hand egg pram.
Double but with footprint of single.
Multiple set ups for baby to 25kg

They told me I can only buy new - which is ridiculous on so many levels. Is that not a universal rule?

Phil and teds?

Lavender2021 · 06/03/2021 11:05

The duet can have a seat changed for a shopping bag but would be big still. I forgot about Phil and Ted they do a pushchair that you can add an extra seat under to make it a double or remove for a single.

Who said you can only buy new? I'm in a mountain buggy Facebook group and people buy and sell pushchairs all the time. I have have a second hand running pushchair as didn't want to spend full money on it!

Phil and Teds (if still around) are a single to double. We adopted two LOs baby & toddler it was great for us.
People don't like the fact the smaller child is in the back but DS2 never had a problem going in it. The only thing is it won't fold on the bus in double mode.

MyCalatheaHatesMe · 06/03/2021 11:07

The Phil & Teds one looks good if I got away with buying it second hand. Reviews say they fit a two year old in the back one, it just looks so tiny, so wouldn't want them to be super uncomfortable.

It was covered at the pre-panel training that you cannot buy second hand for foster children.

Which is obviously ridiculous as will be second hand by placement number 2... and you can get much better quality items if bought second hand.

With the P&T you can lift the baby in the baby seat up onto the front attachment points if toddler decides to walk, this may not be official method but we often did it !

Baby Jigger City Mini double.
Easiest fold ever.

NotMeNoNo · 06/03/2021 11:14

It would be rare to have a 2yo in the back and a 3+ yo in the front, that would be some handful. I think DC are much less fussy about pushchairs than adults, it's far more about feeling safe with you. I have lots of pics of DS beaming out of the back seat.

How odd! I can understand with car seats so you know how they have been kept and the age but not a pushchair that looks good and has everything it should.

The MB Double might work, but is not the most budget-friendly if you don't find a good deal on a second hand one. The same goes for a Bugaboo Donkey. I would overall prefer a side-by-side stroller, but if you want a single-to-double convertible, you'll probably opt for a tandem (a comparison of double strollers might help).

From the tandems, a Baby Jogger City Select Lux with a ho on bench seat would be a fantastic, but again, not that affordable option, you need to check out what the offer is. Phil&Teds is a nice option, push-wise, and it doesn't take as much space as some other tandems since it's not so long.

londonscalling · 07/04/2021 15:26

I would buy secondhand. I'd tell them that you were given it or it was used for your own kids (if applicable). You don't want to spend an extortionate amount on a child that could only be with you for a very short time. If they are not happy they will need to supply you with one. I wouldn't buy secondhand clothes though!
