Hello

Im totally new to this forum, but figure it may be a good place for advice. Also im no good with all the abbreviations used here Grin

My partner and i are currently being assessed for kinship care. They're two chilren 2 and 1 years old, my partner is their cousin.

From how it looks we stand in pretty good stead for the authorities to say yes. Im just not sure if its right though. Side note, we've currently not met the children.

We're both in good full time jobs, however we have no savings. Ive asked the SW about monetary means as my partner would be giving up her job and we'd lose that income. Thr SW says its ~£130 a week per child. Then additional payments based on the courses and training you undertake.

However, with my partner raising them full time. There simply isnt enough money coming into the household. Im not sure if we're entitled to any extra financial support? UC, Child tax credits, help with rent or anything. Its all a bit daunting. Im afraid of the worst happening and we end up in serious financial difficulty.

Are we entitled to any financial support? I cant find any clear information. Or anything!
