Taking the first tentative stopes to becoming a foster carer

I have considered doing this for a number of years and feel the time is now right for me. I am interested in fostering Mother and babies. Does anyone have any experience of this? Or any advice or guidance about the realities of foster caring? Thank you

I am a foster carer, have a child who’s 12, been with us since 4.
I did the training for parent and child caring as this is something I was especially interested in. I also know a couple of carers who do it.
This type of caring is very intense.
You need to be with the parent all of the time. There are lots of reports and meetings as you may be jointly responsible for wether the child stays with their parents. You need to accompany them to all healthcare appointments.
What surprised me was that you may have both parents and the child living with you and these parents can be young or old. They may have very chaotic lifestyles so you will need to keep this in mind if you have your own family.
Our agency will not permit me to do this type of care as our fc is with us as long term so they cannot let him be exposed living with a vulnerable adult.
