Hi trying to decide who to foster with and one of the agencies is Tact at present they are especially looking for carers in my county. I have contacted them and had a chat and they told me that I would be the first in my county if I decided to care through them....might be a bit lonely for a first timer? nearest office about an hour away and other cares around there to so maybe doable as I am in Northumberland and its a big rural county anyway. So my question is has anyone experience of Tact and thoughts

Personally I'd
Look for a ifa that has local carers
Near to you, when you become a foster carer your social life changes and you need a
Lot of support from other carers.
My friends have changed I've been doing this for eight years now and my main friendship group are foster carers

Thanks think I'm going LA there are more carers locally with them and I don't want to have to wait months for a placement if I get through the process

Have been with our LA for over 42years, over 200 children , most have had brilliant outcomes. Would do it again.
Good luck XX

Did you end up registering with TACT?

Would love to hear your experiences with them as I’m thinking of registering with them soon and kicking off the 3-6 month assessment process.
We have a 13 year old girl (no other children) and I think one or two female teenagers would best suit our family dynamic, but I don’t think you can specify gender or specifically request teens; would you happen to know please?
Best wishes!

TACT do have a good reputation, but lot's of other IFA's and LA's out there. Try looking at their Ofsted reports as well, gives you a good insight into how the agency is managed and the outcomes for children.

Support as a carer is key, so my view would be to go to an agency/LA where there are local carers.
