My dfd is 16 and is planning on living independently from 18. She will not be able to cope if she doesn't listen and learn, but she refuses point blank to engage. She was supposed to be taking over doing her own washing and ironing, but she just didn't do it and was wearing dirty clothes, completely unconcerned. Same goes for anything else remotely related to looking after herself.
I have a fab link worker, am involved with CAMHS, and have regular contact with other f carers, and all are aware, but thought I would like to get some views from the mumsnet fc community.
How would you get her to be more independent if she were yours?
