Hi everyone. I'm new to this site as I'm looking for advise. I have a teenage placement that causes concern at least 5 days a week some minor some major issues. Any tips on how to keep yourself sane. Ive been advised to give notice on this y/p but I Don't want to as we have seen some small progress and I don't want to let the y/p down but it is effecting everyone in the house especially me. I'm constantly on edge. Any advise would be fantastic.

I've always fostered teenagers and have had some really hair raising experiences throughout the years. Do you have enough support from your own social worker? What are the issues and do you see light at the end of the tunnel? There's no shame on calling time on a placement if it is too disruptive to your own family.

Put the cards on the table, ask how she feels, say you are proud of how she is coming on, and would like her too stay you can see beyond what ss or who ever is advising you, how could things improve too make every one and herself happy. Have too promote her self esteem and confidence feel
important and responsible. Worth a try Know how it feels when are beyond help, still wonder what if, and often wish they were still here, always feel guilty, though know situation was impossible and best for all.

Thanks for your reply. We have the normal things like lies hygiene theft absconding. Making themselves vunrable. School exclusions. Getting up through the night. Self harm. All the normal stuff but it's constant. I get at least 2 calls a day with complaints and or police. I'll keep going see if I can get through to the y/p. As deep down there is a good kid in there. It's just buried deep at the moment. ( sorry about spellings I'm dyslexic strange I've learnt how to spell dyslexic ) the support I get is keep going your doing, a good job. Again thanks.
