Can you be a foster carer if you are overweight?

Plus, if you want to be a foster carer and you Partner/ husband works full time and basically won't be involved ( although will be there etc) can you be approved as a single person Foster carer?

All advice welcome!

On the weight issues, it really depends as foster carers one of our tasks is to set a healthy life style if as foster carers we are not eating the right foods not being active that will filer down to the child

Often fc have issues with good wether it's that their not being fed enough or being fed to much I often have had foster children were food was used as a form of sedation children who had never come across fresh fruit

Most people are carrying a bit of extra weight but if we're talking bout obses or morbidly obese then their every well might be a issue.

On e issue of your oh you will be approved as a couple and to be honest I never meet a good father that isn't involved with their kids on some level

My oh works full time but come the weekend whe dose things with the kids
I don't think you can foster have effectivly have one person in the family having nothing to do with the children what so ever

When you foster you are a foster family, sometimes the fc warms to oh first.

Hope this helps

Yes, I'm overweight.

No, you foster together but you will be the main carer so attend all the meetings, have supervision, go to reviews etc. Your partner has to be fully on board with it as you are assessed together.

If you were single you could still foster but in a family them everyone including the dog is part of the assessment.

Yes, you can be overweight. Unless you are about to expire as you're morbidly obese, you should be fine.

There's a medical in which you are weighed- your GP fills a report in and sends it off.

My OH works full time and I am the main carer. We both go to training etc. Some is at weekends, others he books leave for.
