My German dream has been shattered. DH has been posted to Colchester. I'm very very disappointed as I had friends in Germany and have missed it terribly.

Is anyone in Colchester? We're having DC2 in September so I need to find out about which hospitals are good etc too.

I'm finding it really hard not to be bitter with DH and he is thrilled about the new job and I am so distraught about not going back to Germany which he doesn't understand Is there anything good about Essex???

Oh and Alousieeg DH says we'll def collect the jeep when we get there

It can be a wee sweetner for DS for leaving his little girlfriend They met the day they were born in Germany and then a few months after we moved to Wilts they were posted here too so they've literally been together their entire lives and I think he'll really miss her when we move

Excellent. Probably best to sort the battery out before you show it to him though!

luciemule · 19/04/2010 18:24

when I say utility, I mean a separate area for washing - our shed next to kitchen at Shriv Kitty was fab and we also had two airing cupboards at either end of the landing so loads of space for clean sheets etc.
If you get someone at Colchester to tell you what house numbers are becoming avilable, you can tell the HIC the number and put it directly onto your list. Half the time, they don't get told what quarters will be coming up and so find it hard to place those waiting.

Meltedchocolates · 30/05/2010 20:59

So when do you arrive in Sunny Colchester ?

luciemule · 30/05/2010 22:44

On a different thread, katty says there are currently no quarters so won't be there until July I think.

StrictlyTory · 31/05/2010 12:59

Hey yes that's true. We've been told they have no spaces at all til July 1st so that will be the earliest! We were half packed and everything, but hey ho!

Meltedchocolates · 31/05/2010 23:36

Strange - know lots of empty quarters at the moment.

StrictlyTory · 30/06/2010 21:44

Ok we have a MQ.... St Catherine's Close

Please someone tell me it's not a total dive... Google street view won't let me look

lifeinagoldfishbowl · 02/07/2010 19:43

Hi Katty.

Not a bad place to be

If you look at a satelite view on google maps you will see the square of houses around you are all the officer quarters, then what happens to look like a building site on homefield road is the shop/church/community centre so you're about a 5 minute walk from the shop/post office/church/community centre and nursery.

Will say that officer quarters are a bit of a mix match and that the houses on leas road are totally different to those on malting/st michaels rd, and they are different to yours in St Catherines.

St Catherines are detached I think or at least semi's they have large-ish gardens and large interiors - a friend who lives in St Catherines has a large lounge and open dining room - a fair sized kitchen and good size bedrooms.

Any more q's just shout

Hey! Am in..... Finally Sky bothered to connect the BB >

Ok we officially have the ugliest house on the road, even DH said it really is very ugly! But ok size, smaller upstairs than downstairs which is odd.

DH is on duty all the time so we've not disovered much as of yet, planning on joining the zoo this weekend though which will be good.

lifeinagoldfishbowl · 01/08/2010 17:44

Hi!

Glad to hear you've moved in - there not the best looking houses are they

Things are still going on although summer leave is on and if you fancy meeting some new people pop along to the coffee morning on a Tuesday morning at the musket club.

If you need anything email me at chaosintocalm AT googlemail DOT com
I nanny for a 2.9 year old boy so can meet up or show you some of the toddler groups etc

And welcome to Colchester ;)

StrictlyTory · 02/08/2010 10:41

Sounds great, thanks

My friend came yesterday and said 'My God your house is ugly'... thanks!

Off on hols to Germany next week, I'm so very very excited! I think seeing my old hiring may push me into a jealous rage but I will attempt to restrain myself

What time in the coffee morning? Oh and do you know what time M&B swimming is on a Monday?

lifeinagoldfishbowl · 02/08/2010 12:18

Coffee morning tomorrow at the musket club is 10.30-12ish - some people stay on for lunch afterwards (anyone is welcome but this is a hq/brigade/medical regiment coffee morning) there are also others for the other regiments throughout the week.

They also do a breakfast club on a thursday morning at the musket club anyone welcome for bacon rolls and cups of tea etc.

There is also a friendly toddler group 9-11 mon/wed/fri am's at mareth road scout hut - easy to find but google maps will show it more clearly than I can write it

Mums and tots swimming is 11-12 tel no is 815154

Might see you tomorrow

lifeinagoldfishbowl · 10/08/2010 19:28

:)

lifeinagoldfishbowl · 07/09/2010 20:24

I think I met you today at Coffee morning :)

StrictlyTory · 14/09/2010 12:47

Ohhhhhh I would have dressed up! Actually I'm so completely knackered that getting dressed full stop is enough work right now Grin

Was meant to come to the coffee morning today but DS's big boy bed was being delivered between 10-12 so had to wait in. Amazingly it actually arrvied at 11.15 so the delivery man didn't get an earfull Grin

lifeinagoldfishbowl · 24/09/2010 18:57

I hear congrats are in order Grin

StrictlyTory · 30/09/2010 17:56

Yes! Thank you Grin I'm knackered! Was going to come on Tuesday but had the midwife, will porbably pop in this Tuesday as I'm sick of being stuck in the house!
