My little brother has sent a Christmas wish list for us to send to him along with an address.
Its stuff like magazines, sweeties etc.

Questions:

  1. Can i just take a parcel to the post office and send it?
  2. Is it free to send, if not is it expensive?
  3. What about security, do i need to list on the box, what is in the box?
  4. is there any point in taping it all up securly, will they undo it all to check it?
  5. Is there a max weight of parcels?
  6. How long from posting to arriving does it take to get there? Many thanks for your help and advice.

Hi there, am afraid I don't know everything, but when my Bro was in Afgahnistan last year all parcels we free of charge to post out there. (You may have to pay if the parcel is very big/heavy).
When you take it to the post office you have to fill a custom form out and say what is in it.
Not sure if they will check it, but if they do, they will reseal.
Post used ot vary on how long it took to get to my Bro and also iof he was out of the base on an operation it was held for him until he got back.
Oh, don't send chocolate, as it melts, but pretty much everything else was okay. We even sent a mini birthday cake!
Hope that helps and happy posting!

check out the bfpo website...basically you can send a package up to 2kg for free. And cards are also free but you do need to send at a post office (although as I was in post office queue this morning I thought it would be a lot less painful to stick a stamp on...)

I bet your brother will love his parcel!
