Where are you glucose? Falklands good most of the time but I'd of happily missed August, clocks go in to summertime today though!

Hi - just seen date on OP! sorry silly of me!
I am in BFG where we have had the wettest August on record, sun has come out on the day the schools went back!

Dates not a big deal, always nice when people reply to a thread! I can beat your August - it snowed and the only road out of camp was not safe to drive on, people with sense went to the uk!
Moving into spring now - there are lambs!

Hi Weenawoo

The Falklands are great. I've only been there for 6 months, but it is a great opportunity to visit lots of places.

Try and get to as many of the little islands as possible, there should be flights to most of them that you can book. Each island has different penguins and sealife to look at. Just remember you will probably smell the penguins before you see them.

Go to the beach when the small dolphins are out and walk along the edge so that the dolphins can see you. They will follow you along the beach doing sommersaults etc, they are very sociable.

The races in Stanley are a bit of a joke, but I suppose you have to go once. Stanley looks like the kid TV programme Balamorey. Honest, with all the different coloured roofs.

You can fly to South America from Mount Pleasant, so another opportunity and there is always the ascension for hotter climes.

I hope you have a brill time, the community spirit is very strong there, so I hope all goes well for you.

Thedogwalker, the dolphins are brilliant, have been in the sea with a big group of them - one of the coldest but best experiences I've had!
I have also found out that however much you think a penguin colony stinks, an elephant seal will always smell worse.
