Witney is your nearest "large" town and it has great facilities for new mums. Oxfordshire generally is very good as there are several midwife led birthing centres and they have been awarded a UNESCO award recognising their support for breastfeeding.

Go and see the Children's Centre at the Methodist Church in the centre of Witney, mums from Carterton, Brize Norton, Minster Lovell and surrounding villages all go there and there are several groups (free) every week.

I can't tell you about forces specific mums groups but there is a lot in the area, baby college, baby gyms, music groups you name it really.

there is a newbuild creche and nursery/ pre-school at brize that is supposed to be very good - and i've seen lots of mummies and littlies at the (new and shiny) med centre... there's also a swimming pool that i think do some kids times - they certainly have kids lessons and birthday parties there at times... i know yours are a bit little lol, but there seems to be a fair amount of child-centred activity...
i don't live there with my dc's lol, but have worked there on and off for many years - so i know the camp if not the m&t facilities
i'm not going to discuss quarters though...
civvy-wise i love the area (if not carterton itself...) x

Hi, we're at Brize and the med centre is really good. Generally we have tended to get appointments same day as calling etc.

Our daughter is at the nursery on camp and we've been really pleased with her time there so far. So much cheaper than the other nursery schools in area.

Quarters aren't that bad, sure they look grey and drab from outside but once you're inside they are fairly homely. This is actually my favourite quarter that we have lived in, having lived in 2 previously.

Hope your move goes well.
Feel free to get in touch if you need to know anymore etc

xx

hi i'm at brize too, my ds goes to the camp nursery it's great. i have registered him at the civilian medical practice, and they've got dental places here too at the civilian practice, no waiting, i know your dc's are young but might as well get their name down. where's your quarter then mrs p? i'm in a small one but it's in an nice quiet bit of the patch which is good.

mrsrsp · 14/04/2009 09:24

Hi Gemmummy - we'redown the far end of the patch away from camp (Faulder). Very quiet up this end. Which room is your ds in at nursery, my dd is in the 1-2's but turns 2 in June.
