Hi all,

We are currently based in germany, and this has been my first home since moving out of my parents.
We are thinking about putting in for a uk posting as we have a family now and want to be closer to relatives but we have no idea how the bills work in a english quarters.

Over here all our bills come straight out of his wages and the only things we have to sort is our phone. How do they do things in the uk????

From memory, rent and council tax come from his wages, but gas/electric etc are up to you.

gemmummy · 08/02/2009 18:27

ye, gas and electric. we have both in our house, small 3 bedroom, it's about 100 a month athe minute (50 gas 50 electric)

we get, Council tax and water rates, an rent for the quater, taken from DH's wages.
Rent is 100pounds per month for 2bedroompart furnished.
Then we pay for oil (we'rein NI and we hav oil not gas heating), electricity and phone. we also pay for Contents insurance but i guess this is optional.

Where are you thinking of posting to?

Well hubby has put in for transfer of trade, which if he gets will take us to middle wallop to start with.

If that dont happen we will ask for colchester for his next posting!

TV licence. Also don't forget Road tax-I'm desperately trying to stay in Germany! Way too expensive to move to UK Is your DH transferring to AAC?

didsnbump · 09/02/2009 21:09

Yeah he has put in for AAC. I do hope he gets its as i really wanna be in the uk, but like u trockodile the money thing is a worry. But if he gets this transfer the extra money will make up the difference!

But i have to say with the value of the euro to the pound it certainly makes shopping over here seem far more expensive!!
