We have ours from 2 separate places, which we arranged when we bought our house(s). We're covered by Norwich Union and Legal and General.

(DH is Navy, I was Navy when we took the policies out. We had no problem getting cover).

SmallShips · 27/06/2008 20:51

i got mine when i was navy, but all the highstreet places DP has been to recentely wont cover him. Nightmare!

How come? Is he a diver or something?

Try arranging it through a financial advisor. They should know who might cover him.

scaryteacher · 27/06/2008 23:51

We have whole of life through Prudential (used to be M&G). I think we also have something through PAX which we might increase.

It depends what you're looking for. If it's a whole of life (i.e on death), then as something is going to kill you, it doesn't matter what, they will have to pay out anyway (bar suicide), so him being in the RN doesn't matter.

If you want a term assurance to cover a mortgage then it may be different.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 28/06/2008 00:02

I don't remember us having any problems, and DH is a diver. think we are with countrywide, just cos that's who we got our mortgage through. Do need to sort out a will though.

SammyC · 28/06/2008 08:03

Abacus is who we use OH a diver too, think also PAX which is military based.

Thanks for all your replies, hes a PO mine warfare and has been in and out of theatre for the past year and he reckons that has something to do with it, but if you all had no problems, hes probably fibbing and hasnt actually got round to sorting it out.

dh is a submariner and a glider pilot and we had no trouble, as it was a whole of life policy.

pinkem · 28/06/2008 22:17

DH uses PAX.

jcscot · 29/06/2008 10:49

My husband has life insurance through Close Brothers MIlitary Services (I think the policy is underwritten by Scottish Widows) and has critical illness/injury via PAX.

AnnasBananas · 29/06/2008 13:55

I do know if you are on part one orders to deploy into theatre you won't be accepted for most of the main (civvie based) insurance companies. PAX is the only one who will cover you immediately. We were advised to go with PAX, recommended to go for the maximum then top this up with another 'whole of life' policy.

VanillaPumpkin · 29/06/2008 18:32

We are with Legal and General . DH is RAF.

Drusilla · 30/06/2008 20:34

We are with AXA - NAAFI Financial were the brokers. DH wasn't unders orders at the time we took it out, but they did say it wasn't a problem even if he was (this was about 2 yrs ago). We have a bit of PAX too, but only worth about £100k I think.
