soory, MHSolutions, silly me.
Is the answer A or B?

A) They offer a 24 hour, 7 day a week service so that a person can call to report any repairs, be they emergency, or routine during the 24 hours.

B) They offer 24/7 service, but office hours only i.e 8am t 5.30 for routine repairs, and from 5.30pm to 8am and at weekends is only for reporting emergencies!

I need to know before I decide if I am going to put in a compliant about the (imo) rude woman I had to speak to last night!

Depending who you talk to, how they are feeling, If she had PMT, if it is a full moon, if there is a R in the month, and finally, if they like the sound of your voice, they will tell you what they want

And you got the right title.

(if you are phoning Larkhill ask for Kisty, brilliant girl alwasy gets things done pronto)

I just called and said to them about what happened last night.
They said that if for any reason they are short staffed then they say to people who call late at night (I would hardly call 7pm late), then they have to tell the customer that they are short staffed and only delaing with emergencies, otherwise any repiar, routin or emergency can be reported 24/7!

My central heating broke down in January when my baby was 10 days old. The temperature in the house was 6 degrees and my husband was in Afghanistan. They said someone would be with me in 4 hours. Nobody turned up in 24 hours! They took it very seriously, got it fixed the next day, a letter of apology and a £20 gift voucher!

They can be good but they are not helped by stupid wives phoning up to get a lightbulb/fuse changed.

Also be aware you are entitled to your grass cut when dh is in Iraq/Afghanistan.

McDreamy · 02/05/2008 08:43

Only if they are away for 4 months and a day though! DH had to go away when DD was 4 weeks old for 2 months (to Afghan) I was recovering from a CS and they refused to cut my grass!

In the end my FIL came up specially to cut the grass - I thought it was going to kill him!!!

The woman I spoke to said to me "WE only do emergency calls outwith office hours". SO i said that they advertise that they do 24/7, and she said "well not anymore, we only accept calls for rouitne jobs between the hours of 8am and 5.30, so you will need to call back between those times tomorrow". When I said that perhaps I worked office hours she replied "Well I'm sure you can make 5 minutes during your busy day to call us".
I then said why had MQ occupants not been advised that it was emergencies only in evenings and weekends? She said,"I'm sure they know", to which I replied, "well I didn't, and it clearly says on your website that you offer a service 24/7, it doesn't say anything aobut emergencies only at set times". Then she hung up

Um, I thought the answer was B.....
But they shouldn't be so rude!
I had to stay in for three hours this morning for our electricity check. Boring! And when I called them to arrange the appt I said I had to do the school run so could they come at 9.15. I got back from school run at 9.05 to find a missed appt card through my door . I called them and they got him back but what is the point in agreeing an appt with me and not telling the workman .
I have a request in for new carpets (stained and due replacing 2 years ago) and new curtains (14 years old). They are coming to inspect on Wed.....again. I have already had them approved twice but then they ran out of money.... Wish me luck.

laura032004 · 04/05/2008 05:14

I put my order in for new curtains in January. Rang up on the Mon, got an appt for the Wed and chose the new patterns. Still haven't received them though! This is the standard time delay though.

hf128219 - "They can be good but they are not helped by stupid wives phoning up to get a lightbulb/fuse changed." I don't think there's any need for that. There are lightbulbs in my house that I couldn't safely change (the one positioned helpfully above the stairwell for example, which is my only upstairs landing light). If possible, I will ask a neighbour to help, but there are people who don't feel they can do this.

saltire · 04/05/2008 10:08

I complained! got a very helpful eprson, who put me through to customer sevices
I also got a date for someone to come and look at the electrics - although they seem to think it's perfectly normal for us to be changing at least 3 lightbulbs a week every week!, and for the trip switches to trip on a daily basis!
However the garage door won't be fixed until middle of June,as it's not an emergency

laura032004 · 04/05/2008 15:42

We had that in our last house. Very with the cost of energy saving lightbulbs! Nothing came up at the annual elec check though.

VanillaPumpkin · 04/05/2008 16:02

At our house in York we were told we were not allowed to change our outside light bulbs. We had to call someone out and have them do it....
I am not hopeful for the curtains then Laura . We will have moved again before they get it organised

hf128219 · 05/05/2008 15:12

laura032004

I was not suggesting you balance precariously on a 20 foot ladder with a lightbulb in one hand and a baby in the other.

There are lots of very silly and stupid wives around - so there is every need for such a comment. Freedom of speech.

saltire · 05/05/2008 18:18

I wouldn't be able to change my lightbulbs on my own. Ours are really silly, they look like outdoor lights. They have a black ring attached to the ceiling, with a white plastic lid over the top. it takes two hands to get it off, and I don't have the strength in my hands to do it.
