Finally marched out of our quarter today after spending shed loads of time trying to get it sorted.

We are being charged £280 for.... wait for it....

a dirty kitchen floor
a dirty oven (despite having oven clean in and it being cleaner than it was when we took it over) and
dirty windows

Someone explain how they can justify that?!

It has made me so mad, because with me being 32wks pg, and DH being on crutches following his MEDICAL discharge from the army, we painted the house throughout, tidied the garden, cleaned all the carpets, replaced the shower curtain and god rid of a lot of imperfections left by the last lot.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR They can swivel for their money!

Oh don't start me on about DHE! Have you not seen any of my threads about them. Feckin wankers the lot of them.
Contest it. We did. In fact our cleaner didn't do the job properly and had to go back as DHE walked out of the first march out. Secondly they charged us for a the hall carpet not being cleaned - not our fault, the cleaner should have told us if she couldn't get it clean, they tried to charge us for a dirty floor until our proxy pointed out that contractors had been in, they also tried to charge us for the garden - again the proxy pointed out that it was 4 weeks since we had actually moved out and as for Barrack stores,

get on to welfare - or the papers! You've nowt to lose now have you

JARM · 27/09/2007 15:06

do you know what saltire, i am sorely tempted contacting the papers.

Its not as if DH has his career to think of now - the army put paid to that by making him work 6x14hr shifts week in week out and screwing his knees up (was a chef) so bad, he is now awaiting his 3rd operation - which ahsto be done on the NHS because the army have washed their hands with him!

Ooooooh fuckers the lot of them, as soonas i get anything in writing from them about the march out, they are gonna wish they hadnt bothered!

Its my belief that they see us 9families) as a way of making quick money. Perhaps this is where the money from the tax and council tax rebates are coming from.

Barrack stores have charged us for a table, which they claim I must have scrubbed with a brillo pad becasue there was no varnish left on it and it was "filthy".
I argued and they came back and said that the set of drawers we had in teh bedroom was also filthy and wasn't in that "as new" condition they expected it to be in. I pointed out that if I had received it in that condition then they would have got it back that way.
As for the table, I firmly believe that the cleaner (who incidentally is doing this ont eh side with DE cleaners after work and will not accept cheques and it seems as though she doesn't put it through the books) damaged the table out of spite. When I called her to go back and clean the second and third time she kept saying "I didn't touch your table" over and over again, yet I hadn't mentioned it to her! However I have had to cough up for it as DH has been threatened with disciplinary action and a CM if it's not paid, and it's not fair on him. We are hundreds of miles away and not able to argue. I was all set for them to take me to court to get the money and make thyem prove that I ahd damaged it, but I didn't think that DH would get so much hassle

Skyler · 27/09/2007 15:17

That is outrageous! They are awful. I don't know anyone who has had a hassle free march in/out. You may as well have paid for cleaners! £280 is extortionate. I would not pay that and demand to see a breakdown, and go to the papers now your DH has left.

£70 an hour LL, bloody hell I'm in the wrong job. The cleaners we used were recommended to us on the grounds that "they are the cleaners the DHE use for their pre-paid march out cloean thing", so know their stuff. Luckily for me I was on good terms with the woman at the HIVE up their and she has taken their poster down now and won't hand out their number to anyone

Skyler · 27/09/2007 15:24

£70 per hour!!!! WHAT??!!!!! Seriously?? My DH is in the wrong job.
How much is it for march out cleaners now then?? I was going to just pay up using disturbance......

Our carpets are a write off already. They and the curtains should have been replaced before we moved in, but guess what? There is no money...

saltire · 27/09/2007 15:26

The toatl we got charged was over £400. Luckily we have been able to claim back on our contents insurance, or we will when they send the receipt - guess what, I've had to send them a SAE so they can sedn me a receipt.

JARM _ get on to the sun. i would back you up, I'm poast caring now, and as DH is always pointing out to me, I'm not affected by military law.

saltire · 27/09/2007 15:30

skyler, I have had it on very good authority from two seperate (nice) people who work in DHE that if you go for the DHE contract clean it works out very expensive for you and cheap for them, as they leave it until the last minute to do before new occupants move in, thus saving them the hassle of maybe needing to tidy up again before new people move in. The same 2 people also said that if there are local cleaners nearby who can guarentee that they will get it to march out clean standards and will attend the march out and put right any complaints, then use them. You often find cleaners like this near big bases, as ex-service people often set up in this way. We use dpart of our distrubance for it.

Notyummy · 27/09/2007 15:38

Saltire

You are right. There are cleaners like that. When we moved out of our last quarters at RAF Coningsby, we paid £220 for the whole house including carpets and cookers, and the firm guaranteed that they would attend the march out and make good anything that was picked up. It was actually the woman from DHE who gave us their details!! It may sound like a lot, but I work and do not have the time to scrub the house with a toothbrush....and frankly I did enough of that when I was in the military to ever do it again!

Skyler · 27/09/2007 15:42

I am actually happy to pay £200 to have a hassle free march out, esp with the kids in tow. Where we are you can't do the DE contract clean as it is not set up. I don't know why. I think it is because there are lots of trainees and they are not entitled to use it . Why??
DE do have recommended companies though??
Oh well, I will try not to worry till we are near moving anyway....at least 18mths away.

Skyler · 27/09/2007 15:43

Actually I would pay JARMS £280, but that would be for the WHOLE house. They are thieves.

JARM · 27/09/2007 16:18

well they aint getting a penny out of me... not unless they can justify the cost.

i agree the kitchenfloor was minging - but we were promised a new floor in there anyway

the windows - fair play - couldnt care less

the oven - well that has me fuming! Paid ovenClean £45 last friday and it isnt "up to standard" according to the DE guy - well he can go fark himself because it is bloody sparkling in comparrison to what it was like 2yrs ago.

And how can they bloody moan about things getting a little grubby and past their best when you are in a quarter for anything up to 3yrs i dont know.

oooooh i am so farkin angry!

OP posts:
saltire · 27/09/2007 16:21

Trust me - I know how angry you are!. Thing is, unlike you I'm not pregnant, you don't need the stress. Although the stress we have had has caused a major flare up of my illness. Let's all be happy that they they are money grabbing shites, whereas we are all lovely people!

Skyler · 27/09/2007 19:55

They are supposed to allow for wear and tear though aren't they???

3andnomore · 27/09/2007 20:13

no help...but thank you for reminding me why it's better to have your own house...not that I will say this if dh is being posted for 2 years in germany whilst I live here (and even worse for us...I am german )

benandalex · 04/10/2007 04:00

The one things i have noticed if you use the dhe approved cleaners they are norm in some way connected to the dhe in our last place we didnt use the cleaner got billed £50 for the cooker and guess who had to get that £50 the bloody dhe mans wife as she was the registered dhe approved cleaner says it all really !!
