And would love some accommodation advice. My hd is an officer and we have two children. We have applied for quarters but have no idea about the best options or schools. The only knowledge we had was about Seafield pk and there are none available or coming up before march so have been advised to rule that out. We think we would prob prefer (if we had the choice) Southwick but have been told Alvestoke is also good. Any advice / help much appreciated x We have dogs and horses and are from a semi rural area where we are hugely fortunate with our home , but are miles away so are having a panic about all of this!

Southwick is lovely, only one shop but only four miles from Wickham , a larger village with lovely shops, pubs, places to eat. It's very close to the Bere Forest which is great for walks. Also loads of horsey opportunities.
There are loads of great primary schools if you head into the Meon Valley. Wickham wasn't great a few years ago but now has a fab head and has improved greatly.
Swanmore Tech is out of catchment but Southwick children do get places without too much difficulty.

Alverstoke is nice but you have to travel along the a32 which can be a nightmare in the rush hour.
Nearer to the sea but less accessible to other areas. Not certain about schools there.

Thanks ff. What are the actual properties like there, is it one road, although southwick def seems the most quaint I think Alv may well tick more boxes.

I had a friend who lived in a close of forces properties. Quite big , 1950s? Style houses. Think others are on a small estate but with non forces houses as well.
Can't really get anywhere without a car , very few buses.
The houses in the village are all owned by Southwick estate, so are all rented. Good access to M27 and to Fareham, Portsmouth, Southampton.
What age are your DC? And would you be looking at state schools?

Southwick is definitely more rural than Alverstoke, which is close to Gosport , which can be a bit run-down in places.
Think the catchment schools for Southwick is porchester, but most forces children I know , went to Meon Valley schools. I think they get higher priority than other out of area children.
