Pontins - he's on his way home!

Namechanging Snappy person here!
DH is on his way home and I'm very excited!
For first time he's being made to decompress - aaargh! He and we would rather he just got home sooner. But if it makes him less tired when he gets here, it'll be worth it.

I'm off to mow the lawn now - his job usually, but the grass hasn't half grown now, and I think he'll be chuffed if it isn't the first thing he has to do when he gets here. Have washed car too - will do the inside later with the youngest 2 (who think it's a great treat?!). Wish me luck with that mower though - petrol thing that pulls itself and me along with it - not quite sure I can remember how to get it going.

Decompression is a great thing, honestly. I used to work with the team and it was considered well worth the money they throw at it.

(although I'm not too sure about him being less tired...most of them seem to stay awake for 24 hrs plus!)

Good luck with the mower - I'd hate to use ours, and would probably cut my toes off!

Welcome home MrSL Smile

Scootergrrrl · 10/04/2012 09:49

Welcome home Mr S. There's loads coming back where we are too and it always give me a lump in my throat the first time you see families all back together again. And he'll have had his lie-in by the time he gets back, so there's no excuse for not leaving you in bed on his first day home!

Saltire · 10/04/2012 09:49

Welcome home.

We're the opposite, we're jsut waiting for DH to get a definite flight date Hmm. The hanging on is annoying me now.

ConsiderYourself · 10/04/2012 10:52

He's always shattered when he gets back, because flight is usually overnight. Scooter - it took me a long time to realise that actually he's not fit to join in family life for at least 48 hours, and the longer I can give him, the less we fight.

Saltire - good luck - I hate the hanging around/undefiniteness at the start and end of every trip. As dh was away 10 times last year, that's a lot of hanging around! It's the worst bit. You manage fine when they're away and when they're home, it's the transitions that drive you batty!

Eve - I'm not sure... he's on his own, not with a unit, and he likes his sleep and hates beaches.... we'll see. I suspect he'll just visit people out there for the time. Just hope he doesn't get stuck there or he'll miss dd2's birthday.

And I can't get the damn mower started. Just youtubing to see if I can get any tips. Not helped by being left-handed.

Oh well, yes, most of the activities are beach/water based, so maybe not for him! He could play Golf though if he is in to that?

I dont think he will be forced to join in with anything - maybe if he was with a unit he would, but as a singleton they will probably lose sight of him quite easily!

Best of luck with the mower!

ConsiderYourself · 10/04/2012 11:53

Ta, Eve. Am sure he'll enjoy it whatever, and I got the mower started (RTFM!), have half-done, run out of petrol, about to refill. Feeling quite chuffed about that. Hope he's pleased!

Can I just point out it's not my MrSnaplegs Grin?
I got a bit confused when I saw Eve's responseon reading this thread

MrsSnaplegs · 11/04/2012 10:30

Consider Yourself - hope you are enjoying having him home Grin

ConsiderYourself · 11/04/2012 11:16

Sorry MrsSnaplegs, I was SnapSnafu.

Flight delayed, but I think he got on it 15 mins ago, so home for bedtime I hope.

MrsSnaplegs · 11/04/2012 12:08

Woohoo! Hope you've shaved those legs Wink

Not a problem but as a regular here I think some may have thought it was me Grin

LtEveDallas · 11/04/2012 14:14

Ahh I did, and was very confused - thought I'd missed something!

That makes much more sense now!

ConsiderYourself · 11/04/2012 14:21

Legs! Knew there was something I'd forgotten!
Have just finished painting the back porch as a surprise. Next stop... make cake, hoover out car, clean fridges, then shower ;-). Then clear away the filing pile in the kitchen and I'm ready :-)

MrsSnaplegs · 11/04/2012 14:33

ConsiderYourself - as long as painting the back porch isn't a Friday Night MN euphemism I have missed then I hope he appreciates your hard work Grin
Don't wear yourself out he won't notice the cleaning and stuff I never do when I come home (well not for 24 hours at least)

Eve - Ha - did you think I had finally sent DH out to get a job! He's currently still on FT childcare duties whilst I MN am slogging away at work Grin

madwomanintheattic · 11/04/2012 14:33

Ha! Ditto.
But welcome home, other mr s. Grin

ConsiderYourself · 12/04/2012 22:57

MrsSnap - yes safely home last night. Clearly made of different stuff to you as he'd noticed lawn was mown before he even parked (brownie point no.1 to me). The dog covered in paint gave away the back porch painting pretty quickly too (brownie point 2).

I think someone needs to have words with the Pontins padre though... apparently us wifeys aren't wanting to be "serviced" (not his phrase) the minute they walk through the door. We have other considerations apparently. I beg to differ....

OP posts:
MrsSnaplegs · 13/04/2012 06:53

CY - Aah bless the padre at least he is trying to ensure all women aren't thought o in "just one way" however you can just tell your DH is he so irresistible it doesn't matter. Impressed he noticed the grassWink
