Northwood or London

Hubby appears to have a choice between the 2, although he's leaning towards Northwood. Anyone have any info on the best or worst places to live? We're entitled to a Large 3 or 4-bed Officers house, and must have a garage for hubby's toys (Rubbish he has accumulated!).

Thanks

We live in London and we love it, but it really depends on what area you would be looking at as some are lovely and some are dreadfull. We live in North west london and it is sooo green, great schools for the kids, lots of parks, museums to visit and the weekend. It's a great place to bring up children, there's always lots of free stuff going on at weekends that you can enjoy.

We are about to move to London and have been allocated a quarter in West Byfleet which looks lovely, the houses are large and have garages so it might worth having a look. The commute to main building is under an hour apparently.

Uxbridge MQs have double garages, and are about 10 miles from Northwood, or a tube ride into central London

I thought they had been sold off? Have you got a postcode? Thanks Smile

Oooh just had a look on Bing (can angle it a bit!) I did'nt realise they were modern....and behind the wire. Think they may go on the short list. Hubby's eyes lit up when I told him about a double garage!

No longer behind the wire as RAF Uxbridge closed a few years ago I'm afraid!

loopydoo · 02/03/2012 21:30

Uxbridge quarters still feel quite private though, even though no longer behind the wire and beautiful park only metres from the house - oh and secret bunker just behind houses you can visit.

Northwood has an excellent primary school. The quarters were outside the wire within walking distance of the school. 30 mins from Baker St on the tube.

Northwood is lovely. Lived here for over 2 years and there's lots of places for kids. Alot of the MQ's are really nice, our garage is a decent size. Really close to everything on the tube if fancy going to places, Shopping is brilliant (so far its the best in all the areas i've lived) . Be sad to leave the area to be honest.

MrsSnaplegs · 04/04/2012 14:18

We lived on Northwood patch for 2 years
Eastbury Farm school is local and very good for primary aged children
They are selling some of this patch though so not sure if they will offer there
Other option is Bushey which also seems nice but out of the 2 I preferred Northwood

MollyMaz · 05/04/2012 10:19

Thanks for your replies. The dis-appointer still hasn't decided on where we will go......had loads of options now....all over the blooming country...very frustrating!

While DH was at Northwood we lived in Stanmore. 6 mile cycle for him and an easy tube into london for me. Although I never particularly liked Stanmore, it was a good place to be (just me being fussy!) School was great. And DS2 went to the brilliant nursery at Northwood.

They have sold off quite a few houses, but ours was ok, 4 bed, massive garden (much better than Bushey), with a big garage.
