According to SKY. I know they're a spearhead, and they've also just had Bonking Bob on stressing that this is very much precautionary and not to read too much in to it.

But good luck to any on here who might be affected.

This is affecting us at the moment. Obviously this isn't the place to discuss it, all I can say is it's a right PITA!

For the record, whoever holds the spearhead baton is on 24 hours notice to move at all times. This was heightened somewhat last week with events in the ME but todays headlines aren't necessarily presenting new information, dh has been on 24 hours notice for well over 6 months! Smile

It's a bit of a non-story to be honest, they are on routine 24 hours notice. Journalists are just linking military routines to the events in Libya, which pretty much have no resemblance at all. It's just like Typhoons being on constant combat-readiness in QRAF just in case the Russians decide to test our defences by flying close to our boundaries...

I'm on 24 hours notice every now and then, it's not very interesting, just part of the job.

"The Ministry of Defence said The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, has been ready to deploy at 24 hours' notice for the past 10 days.

A spokeswoman said the 200 troops would only provide humanitarian assistance and would not engage in any combat or intervene in a militarily in any way.

"There is no suggestion they would be involved in any combat mission or ground offensive," she said. "This has got nothing to do with a perceived deterioration of things on the ground in Libya, or any escalation of the crisis on our part."

She said the 24-hour stand-by period is the routine notice period for the regiment".

Freak some PITAs here too, but not closely affected. Hope all well with you.
