Hi ladies i'm looking for some advice. This is my first time in married quarters and we are due to move in May - i am already thinking about the march out as i keep getting told they are ultra strict on cleanliness of property when you leave. Looking for tips - grout between tiles not as white as it was, oven supposed to sparkle etc. Just really looking for tips and what the de will look for when we leave. Hope someone can help me out x

where does it say you have to steam clean your bins???

Hot soapy water is fine as long as they are clean.

It's all a huge mess - that's the one thing I'm not looking forward to when moving back in MQs in the summer; all the crap spouted by DE (not aimed at you limbangmogul). One passes the buck to the other and they spend the whole time playing piggy in the middle.

The wives themselves could run DE better than DE and MHS out together.

I always fill my bins with lemon mr muscle, the smell works on the nose of the inspector and your done. Also tesco/asda value cola down the toilet and left overnight gets rid of limescale marks in a jiffy. We have it in writing that we can leave our garden in any state as it was overgrown and had a rotting mattress left in it when we moved in, the house had just been renovated so how they missed a mattress in the garden I don't know. :)
Sugar soap any walls you don't repaint, and vintage we were told this time only one picture hook per room !

Oh and if you do get charged for anything then your DHs pax insurance works a treat, think our excess is £20 and they cover you for the march out failures, we moved once and got charged for a whole new carpet as my friends DC knocked coffee over and we only noticed the next day after they had gone (too late to get the stain out).

One picture hook per room ??? OMG. I've just bought a whole load of beautiful antique vintage pictures especially for the new quarter. Well, they can forget that - my quarter is going to be specifically littered with picture hooks now Grin

vintage tell DH he needs pax insurance and in 2 years just walk out and leave it. Grin
I know someone here just got billed over 100 pounds for a postage stamp sized garden because the grass had moss in it Shock WTF all army quarters have moss not grass, never been in one that didn't our lawn is so springy we don't need the kids trampoline anymore :)

I’ve just stumbled across this while googling. I hope you got yourself sorted and are now an old hand at being marched out.
Your question made me giggle. I am just in the process of buying a house from a lady who was a sailors wife and frequently lived in married quarters. The first time I viewed the house I immediately knew that she had been marched out. Why? The oven was sparkling, I didn’t look in it, I didn’t need to, the glass was immaculate and you could see the shelves inside looked brand new.
This lady is in her late seventies and her son caught her down on her hands and knees scrubbing the skirting boards behind the radiator pipes! It seems that being marched out is a skill you don’t loose!
