DS1 has just passed his fitness test, and knows that the next 2 stages are 2 days at Halton and an interview with someone above Flight Sergeant - but he's unsure what order these will be.

Does anyone know how 'in depth' the second interview will be, i.e. is it likely to be about 'him' - eg what makes him think he is suitable for the RAF, what qualities will he bring, etc. or will it, as he thinks/hopes, be AFTER he has been to Halton and more of a debrief about the two days?

Many thanks in anticipation!

Oh God, yy to shutting up about the cadets. And officer candidates - a mention of the UAS may help you at OASC, any more will piss people off....and if you get accepted, banging on about it at IOT will piss off the staff (particularly the Regt Trg staff, who you really could do with being on your side Grin.)

WingDad · 24/02/2011 01:31

Oh I don't know, they're a lovely bunch really the Regt staff, you just need to learn how to tame them Grin

Hi guys. Been away for a couple of days, during which time his confirmation letter has arrived - details of fitness tests, kit list and train ticket. It's quite a trek - approx 4.5 hrs with 3 changes and 3 tube trains between Kings Cross and Marylebone - expect he will bypass that bit with a taxi! Grin The route planning looks like being an aptitude test in itself!

WingDad - thank you so much. We are immensely proud of him already, and hope that he WILL do well and achieve a good life and career for himself, we will certainly be supporting him all we can but it is hard watching our first-born hopefully about to embark on his new 'life', IYSWIM. I would like to echo your good wishes to those with DC's about to apply, and wish you all good luck for the future.

xx

It's me again. He's back from Halton, and it's good news - passed with no problems. He is absolutely 'buzzing', loved every minute of it. There were about 30 candidates, about 25 of whom passed, DS seems to have bonded with them all and actually came home with a lad of a similar age who lives 10 mins away!

He was 'barked at' the minute he stepped off the train, the Corporal didn't like the look of his tie, was lopsided, lol Grin

So now it's the kit-list shopping and boot breaking-in, oh and then there's the fitness regime...

Congratulations! That's great news for you all Smile

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha breathes I remember I spilt some mayo on the bottom of my shirt when I was new on IOT, the Sgt didn't like me from that day forward :P Still see him around and he reminds me about it (He's a WO now though so I am rightfully terrified of him).

Excellent news with Halton, sounds like he's the right fella for the job.

MrsSnaplegs · 14/03/2011 15:42

Mummyflood - great news best of luck to him! I have a friend at halton at the moment - will check if he is doing recruit training staff!

GetOrfMoiLand · 14/03/2011 16:03

That's great news mummy. You must be so proud of him, it sounds like he has had a fantastic time.

McDreamy · 14/03/2011 17:27

Our last posting was Halton. It's a lovely area not that he'll appreciate that much as he'll be concentrating on other things!

FWIW I loved my basic training, I had a great time! Hard work but so much fun and I made some really good friends too.

mummyflood · 15/03/2011 07:54

Thanks everyone. We are very proud and excited for him, although obviously as the date gets closer I am starting to miss him already!

It does sound like a lovely area, although the hills seem to cause problems with the phone signals?? His first impression was ''awesome'' - looking down the afterburner of the Tornado in the car park!! Grin

The boot breaking-in is going well, the dog is loving it!! Grin

My friend now works on the promotion courses but knows the recruit training officer - do you want me to see if I can get some hints and tips Wink - only joking wouldn't want to embarrass your lad!
