Are they wanted?

I did one last year, wondered whether to so one again, but can't find an updated webpage.

Are they still going? If so, any suggestions as to what to put in them?

This link here asks you not to, but suggests other things you can instead.

Thanks for that - I had a read through the links on there, and apparently this one sends via its own containers so doesn't get in the way?

Its a nice way of doing something personally, and it is more personal than a donation of money, but I'm still in two minds as to whether to do it or not!

DH was in Afghanistan last Christmas and said the amount of parcels sent through by well-meaning people meant a lot of them didn't get their post from their families on time.

meltedmarsbars · 27/10/2010 16:51

Thats what I need to know, Scootergrrl.

Maybe its better to do it at random moments in the year?

Or not at all?

What about in the new year to make sure fmaily parcels get through on time.
DH said that it's lovely to do it for the troops but not so great when your own kids' pressies aren't received due to the public sending stuff.

Scootergrrrl · 27/10/2010 18:26

What about sending stuff to Headley Court instead?

penguin73 · 27/10/2010 19:06

Another no from my OH and friends out there, too much of an impact on personal mail as any mail sent out is reliant on military transport/resources once in theatre regardless of whether companies use their own transport to get things to the country. Give the gifts/money to a service charity such as RAFA/RBL/SSAFA who will ensure it goes to a serviceman/woman or their family who really need it.

Thanks all. Smile

The Headly Court suggestion is a nice idea.
