House Move tomorrow

MrsSnaplegs · 26/10/2010 18:18

Well we have finally (after 6 months) been allocated a 1/4 (last Wednesday) and the movers arrive tomorrow to pack us up [shick]. UK move so fairly simple Hmm but I need to check we have covered most/all bases. I am sure we will have forgotten something as it has been such a quick turnaround this time.

Sky TV/phone/broadband - done and dates booked for fitting - will cancel BT here once we get down there.

Car insurance and registration documents
TV license
School - old one know Dd is leaving and all school friends have got her email, new one know she is arriving and when and we are booked for a visit on Monday
Have found local Dr, dentist and vet although not registered yet

Oil heating here so nothing to cancel

Booked milk delivery there - yet to cancel milk here

Electricity - can't do till march out here, same company for down there

Newspapers - need to cancel these and pay bill

Bank - need to change address on accounts and house insurance

Mail redirection - need to book

Garden - sorted and tidy,
Attic cleared and decluttered
Most rooms ready for packers - just our bedroom to do later.
Overnight (3 day bag) packed for DD - need to do DH and myself

Freezers - need to clear and defrost

window cleaner booked for day before march out

Need to book house clean for march out (not doing it myself this time as 7 months pregnant)

Need to book march out but not rushing as they have only given us 1 weeks notice to move into new house which had been empty for over 4 weeks before the previous tenants marched out Hmm also because of the short notice move won't get DA until and of Nov pay Hmm so will have to fund everything out of own pocket until then.

So what have I forgotten?

Do you think as well as an overnight bag I should pack a hospital bag? I am 35 1/2 weeks. My logic is no because I have an overnight bag with wash kit etc in it and if LO does arrive in next 3 days any baby stuff we have is going to be too big anyway and we have loads of friends on patch here who have recently had LO so could borrow in an emergency or go out and buy new. So am I tempting fate not to pack a hospital bag Grin Not my first baby and DD was a week late, I am due 6 Dec but think I will end up going over by at least a week this time.

You've done well mrssnaplegs. Have a good rest though. Hopefully all that unpacking will have limbered you up for a quick and easy birth!

Did the removal guys help unpack or did they just unload and run?

MrsSnaplegs · 30/10/2010 06:18

Hi lucie well up already! Can't sleep! Movers were great but it took all day just to unload van as only 2 of them plus DH - we were down for a full unpack as I am pg but they would still be here now so I told them not to ! I don't really like others putting my "stuff" away anyway - I feel it's a personal thing and a new house never mirrors an old one for where things go. We're taking it more slowly today

I know what you mean - we normally unpack as fast as we can whilst they're bringing in the boxes so that we can give them the flattened boxes back.

Make sure you get them to come and pick up the boxes for you at a later date or they'll never come.

Have a lovely weekend - I always think it's nice getting everything out and unpacked and quite fun deciding where to put everything.

MrsSnaplegs · 06/11/2010 17:13

well we are mainly unpacked which is a good thing as this baby may be coming sooner than it's supposed to - by about 4 weeks!! had a really odd couple of days and now seems things are moving a little earlier then planned - DH trying to clear garage so he can get boxes out of nursery so I can unpack baby stuff!
