I have never managed to get a nice tasting jacket done in the microwave. I don't even like them started off in a microwave and finished in an oven - the potato inside has such a different texture when it's been near the microwave.

However I do use a microwave to do mash, and then a ricer. I just cover in a little oil and blast for 10 minutes or so. Skins are always soft though, sorry.

I start them in the microwave. They taste great to me.

I give them usually 6-8 minutes in the microwave depending on their size, then brush with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt then put them in the oven for 25-30 minutes at 180 or so and the skins go really crispy.

I just stab them all over with a fork, pop them on a plate and cook for eleven minutes. Once finished cover with tuna and cheese. MMmmm mmmm

I've never been able to get them crispy though.

Problem is that the microwave turntable, or a plate, gets too hot and burns the potato skin. this can be avoided by pushing three cocktail sticks into the potato, so you can stand it about threequarters of an inch above the turntable or plate. Cook one medium potato about six minutes, two about ten minutes. (Economy tip: use cocktail sticks from last night's G&Ts, rinsed, of course)

I get the frozen ones for the microwave. Not as good obviously but not bad at all. Job done. Wink

I always do em in the microwave.

6-8 minutes.

Give it 6, get it out and see if it's done.

I used to live on jackets
