Puffle birthday cake???

Has anyone made a puffle birthday cake successfully?

It's DS's party on Sunday and as he's Club Penguin mad, perhaps I could try to make one. Should be fairly easy, no? Not sure what to use for the hair/fuzz though....

Thanks, in advance.

p.s. I've never tried the icing you roll out (fondant?) - do you think that would be more suitable than buttercream....

this one is nice

I think you could use fondant or buttercream. Is it the round thing with the fluffy hair on top? (just googled!) Are you planning to do a round cake to look like a 2d version or do you want to do a 3d version using a spherical cake? Id use fondant to do the hair, I would either make lots of individula spikes from rolled out bits and stick them on randomly, or put a ball of fondant on top, roughly shape spikes in it with hands, then use scissors to snip them to make it more realistic.

you could pipe the spikes on with a leaf or round piping tip and stiff icing!

The one in the picture doesn't look too hard

You wanna ask the Club Penguin lady

you could make cupcakes with different shades of butter icing Then put white sweets on the top for eyes. You can get a black food colour pen from ebay to draw the dots on the eyes.

Thanks everyone. I had seen that picture, HoopyFroodDude - it is nice, isn't it? And just a 2d version will be fine, geraldine, I know my limitations!

Can you get fondant icing at supermarkets? I've never really looked for it.

yes but if you want to colour it, you will need to buy paste colour, dont try to use liquid, youll end up with a soggy mess....you can get paste colour (or ready coloured sugarpaste) on ebay, or cake decorating shops. Or use buttercream for the main cake and fondant for the accents! You can get a big box of white or a smaller box with coloured bits in from the supermarket...they have blue, yellow, green, red and black in.
