Dh and I normally have chicken korma but I would love to try something hotter. I wonder though if it can be too hot to enjoy? What would be the next one from a korma to try? I did make a lamb korma completely from scratch but dh said it didn't taste like the stuff from a jar.

jalfrezi, Balti, Rogan Josh those are all quite mild but slightly more tangy than a korma.

tbh i don't consider Korma a curry at all, more like creamy chicken. And i am a total curry novice

Tikka marsala or butter chicken Both fairly creamy and mild.

McSteamy · 24/06/2010 17:48

Tikka massala is fairly mild but has a bit more about it than a korma.

I love love love love love love love love love love love love

Curry!!

What about dopiaza ( lots of onion but not hot )
Or Rogan Josh - lots of tomatoes

Me, I like madras and jalfreizi but they may be a step too far for you!

PS A Korma is so mild and creamy it should be considered a pudding

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 24/06/2010 17:56

I always thought that jalfrezi was hot?

I like tikka massala and don't find that hot.

I used to live in the curry capital yet had never had one until DH made me one .

I had lamb pasander in a restaurant 7 years ago but haven't been able to replicate it. Pataks pasander jarred sauce wasn't the same.

I can't eat chilli so I make a curry sauce by dry frying the spices you like (ginger is a good substitute for chilli) and then adding the oil, cooking and then adding the ingredients and stock.

I make curry by using Jamie Oliver method and it comes out really tasty. Its not cooking from scratch but its bit more than using sauce completely from jar. Basically chicken pieces, mix of chopped veg (eg pepper, onion) natural yoghurt, Pataks curry paste of choice(not sauce)and mayb some chopped tomatoes and lemon juice. Only thing i do different is instead of cookin on hob i mix all ingredients in bowl, put in greased casserole dish and chuck in oven, v tasty and v easy . Can adjust amount of tomato or yoghurt to make milder, add chopped chilli for hotter
