What on earth do I do with a large tray of un-set flapjack?? Can I re-cook it?

Not very summery, I know, it's winter here...

So, I was in a tearing hurry, DS is 1 today (yay!), and making stuff for party. Including a huge amount of flapjack made with "serious" muesli - ie, large/premium oats rather than porridge oats, some seeds and raisins etc.

Stupidly, I wasn't concentrating and used spreadable butter, not hard butter. Do you think that was the problem?

is there any way of saving it?

If not, can I use it for something else? It looks too sticky and heavy for crumble I think... can't think of anything else (can't think fullstop really after today).

Ta very much,

J

maybe pop it in the fridge for few hrs?

I would quite happily eat it by itself. Or you could crumble it up over some yogurt and fruit for breakfast.

Has it cooled yet? If not it may still set

If it is to sloppy then you could crumble it between your fingers over a few baking tarys, pop back in the oven until golden and use as granola for spooning on youghurt and desserts.

If you use jumbo oats, you need to add flour too, to make it set (although I'm not sure if you can do that once it's been cooked once).

I'd be tempted to add chocolate and turn it into chocolate flapjack !

Otherwise sprinkle it over ice cream (has been done in this house with many crumbly / failed cakes and flapjacks!)

Blimey, I went to start wading through the budget thread (am finally losing touch with everything in the UK :-( and there you all are being lovely and getting back to me pronto...

Mmm, i made it several hours ago, so I think this is it.

I might try a spoonful to get an idea of what I'm dealing with, but like the idea of melting lots of chocolate and setting it over the top to hold it together!

I can see my very successful flat belly diet going pearshaped after this...

Thanks again,

J
