dd4 has a nasty cows milk allergy.

saw the dietician today, and we decided that we do need to up dd4 calcium intake.

i have a list of calcium rich foods here which is good, but want to introduce a milk substitute as well, for adding to fortified cereals and one drink a day, cooking wih etc.

the options for dd4, are soya milk, soya formula (wysoy), or oat milk.

she cant hav rice milk as not recommended for under 5's, and cant hve nut milks either as has an nut allergy.

which one would be the best nutrionally for her?

Not sure about nutritionally misdee, but I have found oatmilk to be nicer than soya milks, but that is for my adult taste buds. I would be tempted to go with the wysoy, just because my gut instinct says that as a formulw it will be fortiied with all the vitamin content that she needs.

Could you do it with soya yogurts rather than with milk?

Did the dietician not have an opinion on what would be best?

sorry to hear about all the allergies ; I haven't been about for ages and although I knew she had had problems, I didn't know you had a definate dx.

oh, and a wee tip for the calcium rich foods; I use frozen spinach a lot and stick a few nuggets of that in lots of things; as a coeliac I need to ensure a good calcium intake and it helps get it in there with least amount of bother and fuss....and it's also hidden greens for the DC

yes, they suggested the soya desserts as well, so am going shopping as well, but dont wanto give her too many pudden-y things iyswim. she is a bit of a bourban biscuit fiend already, so trying to fing things i can cook with than buying ready made.

she was given an epipen in jan, which we have never had to use so far, and hoping to never use it. she has allergy to milk, eggs and nuts

My ds was dairy intolerant ( now grown out of it mostly) we supplemented his calcium with a combination of formula (Nutramigen is an acquired taste), and soya yoghurts and milk. The Alpro yoghurts taste fine although are a bit runny/messy. Alpro milkshakes either long life or fresh are lovely for a treat. I found them fine for cooking with and once you start looking in the gluten free/dairy free section of the supermarkets there are all sorts of things such as cheese free cheese sauce

Have you tried goats milk, my DS can't have cow milk but manages goat?

If you do go for oatmilk, be aware that the Oatly organic version isn't fortified with calcium but the non organic is.
