I'd appreciate any recommendations of online butchers.

TIA

Donald Russell is good. My dad uses them, and he orders meat for Christmas from them, which has always been tasty.

There are loads and prob if yr out of the city there will be loads of farmers selling direct. I used to do it.

Plenty of really good small producers at reasonable price.

If you want beef - 21 days matured on the bone any breed but a native breed the best.

Lamb- I always recommend hogget - bigger and better value. SPring lamb too forced and fatty.

Make sure fattened outside not indoors on concentrates.

Pork - there is a difference between out door free range and free range again a pedigree or cross. You want something thats fed on a natural diet not concentrated.

Google loads, shouldnt think there are many bad ones and if you google local food you will find loads on your door step. SO help support these smaller business over large factory companies.

Find a local one if you can.

Other than that, I'd recommend Donald Russell too, I'm always happy with their beef.

I buy mine from www.blackface.com. They are brilliant, if you can't find a local one. They do a variety of seasonal boxes and hen a pick and mix of seasonal meats to suit yourself.

All the meat is either outdoor reared and naturally fed or wild, so fairly ethical as well.

sorry, should have been www.blackface.co.uk
