Instead of peanut butter and jelly?

A writer friend of mine wants to write about a child eating a classic kids' sarnie. She's from the US so for her peanut butter and jelly is a 'classic.' What's a UK classic? Marmite? Peanut butter and banana?

Any help appreciated!

Definitely Marmite. It's hard to find a UK equivalent for peanut butter and jam/jelly as this seems to be such a US staple.

Definitely the marmite. Or cheese and pickle or egg and cress. Or ham on white. Or banana. Don't think americans eat banana sandwiches but they were a fave when we were young.

My mum always made egg and cress when we went on holiday so the taste brings back happy memories. Pret's make them exactly the same way as she did. They're a real nostalgia treat.
