Leftovers from party - how to use up

I have a few odd leftovers from a party:

2 x 300ml sour cream
3 x punnets strawberries
About 500ml whipped cream thats been whipped
Quite a lot of apple sauce

I know I could do a fool type thing with the last 3, any other ideas appreciated, and especially what on earth to do with the sour cream. If it helps, I also have in the fridge:

  • chicken breasts
  • meatballs
  • salmon fillets
  • lots of herbs and veggies
  • cheeses

plus all the usual store cupboard stuff.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure on recipies but I love sour cream with chilli con carne. It also lasts much longer than normal cream - I opened some on 22nd may thAT I only just finished this Friday. Hth

Freeze the apple sauce, use an ice cube tray so you can defrost it as and when you need it.

Buy some meringues and make Eton Mess with the whipped cream and strawberries, use most of the strawberries in the mess and use your billy whiz and one punnet to make a pouring sauce.

This sauce is delicious on ice cream, and it's great on bread pudding, pound cake, cheesecake, or slices of angel food cake.
Ingredients:
16 ounces fresh strawberries
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup water or orange juice
juice and finely grated zest of 1/2 lemon
2 tablespoons butter
Preparation:
Hull and slice the strawberries; rinse well and drain.
In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and lemon juice. Bring to a light boil. Add lemon zest, and strawberries. Heat through and then stir in the butter. Remove from heat and let cool. Chill for serving over ice cream or desserts.
Serves 4 to 6.

Sour cream, just google there is lots out there.

Lovely ideas thank you. A chilli is a great idea - I never make chilli and DH loves it. Will get some mince this week.

Add a packet of (dried) french onion soup to the soured cream and cook the chicken breasts in this. Serve with plain rice. fab.

chatelaine - OK I have the soup, I am ready! Do I need to brown the chicken first? Do I just bung it all in an ovenproof dish and cook it for about 35 mins in a medium oven?
