Oat and raisin cookies (chewy) - recipe please!

Have just purchased some oat and raisin cookies from Sainsburys (sold in bags), and they are absolutely delicious. Chewy and cinnamony and incredibly moreish.

I'd love to be able to make something similar at home. I've got a couple of recipes for oaty/flapjacky biscuits, but they don't have the chewy quality that I'm after.

Can anyone help.
Thanks, in advance

I have a recipe for oat cookies that are more cakey than biscuity, if that helps - it's in the MN recipes as oat and banana cookies. The bananas stop them going crunchy and reduces the sugar load, and you can add raisins if you want to.

I've made these a couple of times recently. They're delicious.
I used sultanas instead of raisins because that's what I had in.
They do harden up a lot as they cool so don't worry about them being really soft when they come out of the oven.

Oh and I see no reason why you couldn't add some cinnamon, I think I'll try it myself next time I make them.

here is my recipe - please read the comments though as they buggered up the ingredients list! You can add raisins/sultanas or whatever in place of the choc chips. And depending on the size of your banana, you might only need 1 instead of 2.
We are currently making them with dried strawberries as the extra flavour - DS loves them!

I like the look of that recipe Thumbwitch, I often have mushy bananas and it'll be a good way of using them and a change from the recipe I just posted.
I tried this banana bread recently and it was good. It appealed to DD as it's Captain Jack's recipe!

Wow, thanks for the speedy replies everyone.

Mugglewump, thanks - I usually like Rachel Allen's recipes but have found a couple of her biscuit/cake ones a bit disappointing. I'll give that one a go.

Thumbwitch, this may sound like a silly question, but do your biscuits end up tasting very bananry (is that a word?). It's just that banana is the one fruit I'm not that keen on. Sorry, I sound v fussy, don't I?

Anyone else out there???

ACtually no, they don't particularly! Especially if you add in other things and cinnamon (there isn't any in my recipe but you could add it). If you are worried about it at all, don't use a banana, just use the 8oz brown sugar - and in your case I'd definitely stick to just one banana. DS doesn't like banana either but he'll eat these til the cows come home, given half a chance.

Great. I'll give them a go.....
Thanks!h

thumbwitch, We tried your recipe yesterday and it's great.
We really loved the cookies, and will make them again.
I'd recommend it to anyone.
