Are groceries getting more expensive again?

Hello,

I was just wondering whether anyone else has noticed their grocery bill going up again?

We don't buy many processed and packaged foods but do tend to use organic/free range dairy, meat and eggs which I think puts the price up.

Our weekly shopping bill for three of us, plus nappies for toddler is never less than £100 at the moment. And that's at Sainsbury. For some reason Tesco works out more expensive (I think because I fill my trolley with Tupperware!). And I haven't been buying world cup lettuces!

Ouchy!

I was wondering exactly the same thing yesterday! I have noticed the bill increasing despite ordering basically the same goods online weekly. We order from Sainsburys too - perhaps they've put up their prices by stealth over the past few weeks.

It may well be on average (fuel costs up etc) but it does depend what you buy - we get a lot of fruit&veg and that's cheaper (and good, and more local) at the moment.

Dp and I discussed the same thing this week, so maybe they are.

Petrol is a killer too

The price of butter and eggs atm is insane

I have spent a fortune on food recently - I was blaming the fact that I had been too lazy to do a big internet shop and have been doing mini shops almost daily at Tesco local sort of places - but I also think that doing little shops means I only buy what I need so maybe you are right about prices.

I buy eggs off the market - I realise that this may not be an option for many people, but I picked up 20 misshapen free range eggs for £2 and they were all double yolkers too!

Glad it's not just me. I was getting worried that my 16 month old was eating more than I thought!

Petrol is a killer for us too. We live in a rural area and I drive to London to work once a week. I have to budget over £250 a month!

Colditz- You have inspired me to stop being such as lazy toad and walk to the local egg farm where they sell six free range eggs for £1. Thus representing a saving of 82p on the price I paid at Sainsburys.

we do get much of our meat at a local butcher and that's certainly cheaper.
