Was carefully feeding 20mo dd cherries today (bitten in half and I reluctantly gave her the stone free half, wanting to gobble it myself..)
and I was wondering when you can give them a fruit with the stone in and they spit the stone out.

Presumably when you can explain it to them?

I was tempted to give her one to see what she would do but obv not appropriate...

My DS has done this at least from 18 months old - I did BLW though so he's always been fine with textures and managing things in his mouth himself. I think he spat out orange pips before he was one.

Don't know about stones (so not much good really!) but my DD would peel a pear in her mouth and spit out the skin from about 10mo. Great party trick!

My DD was BLW'd as well and she has no problem with stones, pips or pith!

She has been removing olive stones since she was about 18mths.

If you are nervous you could try them on something larger like a nectarine moving onto smaller such as an apricot then cherry?

Debka DD does that too, normally with kiwis though.

My DB bought me one of these for my birthday last week.

Not tried it yet as I need to get some cherries first but it looks like it might be good. It's dishwasherable and really simple to use - in fact it says it's good for children to use.

I still get a bit worried about cherry stones with my 3 year old but we both love cherries so I'm hoping it's going to save me a lot of fiddly chopping.
