Recipe book HELP!

Hi All! I'm new to this board, so I hope this question hasn't been asked a million times already.

Background: First, I love to cook from scratch, so I don't mind a little hard work...I feel like I can make 'bad' food really healthy, just by knowing what's in it!

I have 2 DCs: Ds is 4 on Friday, DD is 2.8. DS had his tonsils and adenoids out in March, and since that surgery, the child has been eating me out of house and home. Literally. He eats three meals a day, plus snacks constantly...he was pretty underweight before the surgery, so I'm guessing he's making up for lost time! He is really active, but obviously, with him eating more, I am a bit nervous about him making a drastic weight jump, iyswim. I just need some recipes that I can make big batches of that aren't all biscuity, sweet type things...I want healthy stuff that will fill him up (we go through a kilo of apples a week...so yes, fruit is provided for grab and go kinds of situations.

Does anyone know of any good, kid friendly recipe books that would kind of help with this? Both DCs like to help in the kitchen, too, so the easier the better.

Sorry for such a long story!

The River Cottage Family Cookbook is great. The My Daddy Cooks bog (don't have teh URL, but google will find it) is also another nice place to find recipes you can do with kids.

Best of luck!

Nigella Lawson's How to Eat is a fabulous book to use for family food. Has a whole section on cooking for kids but lots of the other bits are great too.

I always find Jamie Oliver's stuff tasty and easy to use as well.
